The Matrix Redeemed
We just watched 'The Matrix Reloaded'. It was decent, but I was disappointed in the lack of any real meaning. I was reminded, though, of that aspect of the original movie which was so compelling to me. In it Neo realizes that he has power over the Matrix, that it is merely a construct, something that is subservient to his will. As interesting as this concept can be in a film, the truly exciting thing is that for Christians, this is a reality. It is true that other religions have this notion of multiple levels of reality, but for believers in Christ this notion is truly redeemed.
Even as Christians, who are supposed to believe that Jesus is Lord and walk in joy through all circumstances good or bad, in reality we can often become bogged down in the mire of life or caught up in worldly excitement. With the realization that all of this will some day soon pass away, and we will live the house of the Lord one day, we can begin to cease worrying about things that are afflicting us or desires which fill us with lust or envy.
And not only is this an idea, a notion that gives us some glimpse of hope, it is something in which there is real power. For example, through prayer we can commune directly with him who loves us and desires all good things for us. Through faith we can rest assured that we will be saved from the final destruction. Through our real and living relationship with a real living God we are given the means to stand against and defeat all manner of evil. Consider with the faith of a mustard seed mountains can be moved (Matthew 17:20). Is this exaggeration? No, for he says greater things than these will you do. (John 14:12) Did anyone see Neo move mountains? Consider Philip's apparent teleportation. (Acts 8:39) The raising of Lazarus from the dead. (John 11) What do all these things have in common? They are all done by the power of almighty God, and accomplished by faith in Him.
There is one thing that stands against this faith. It is the lie, the Deception, the matrix. We begin to believe in it and not in God. Our faith is destroyed and we are separated from God. His power can no longer operate in our lives. We are literally trapped in the matrix. Our only hope of escape is the realization that it is a lie, that God's word is true, and He is who He says He is.

This is my first post just to see how this thing works. More to come later.
